- Gastritis (Acute and Chronic)
- SYMPTOMS for Acute Erosive Gastritis include loss of appetite, dizziness,
- headache, nausea, vomiting (sometimes blood) and abdominal pressure.
- Signs for Acute Corrosive Gastritis include possible corrosion of the lips,
- throat and mouth, severe stomach pain, swallowing difficulties because of
- inflamed esophagus, bluish color, vomiting of blood and collapse.
- Signs for Chronic Gastritis may include discomfort upon eating, mild nausea
- and a burning sensation in the stomach.
- CAUSES for AEG include drugs such as aspirin, food poisoning, hot spicy
- foods, excessive alcohol intake, allergic reaction to some foods, viral and
- other acute illness. Causes for ACG may be from swallowing strong acids or
- alkali, heavy metal salt, iodine or potassium permanganate. Causes for CG
- is not always known but it may develop with adrenal, thyroid or pituitary
- gland disorders, chronic use of aspirin, stomach cancer, diabetes and
- pernicious anemia.
- TREATMENT. For AEG medication may be prescribed for nausea and vomiting.
- .For ACG prompt attention and possibly hospitalization may be necessary.
- .Antidotes, stomach pump or induced vomiting to remove causative material.
- .For CG antacids may be prescribed.
